Education
Do you desire to make a difference in a child’s life? Do you want to impact the future? If you said yes to either of these questions, we have great opportunities here at FGC for you! Three tracks are available: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and the Educator Preparation Institute. The Early Childhood pathway is for you if you want to teach children from birth through age 4. Begin with the A.S. Early Childhood degree and get the certificates that will allow you to start as a childcare teacher.
Upon graduating with your A.S. Early Childhood degree, you can enter the B.S. Early Childhood program. Suppose you are interested in teaching older children. In that case, in grades K-12, the A.A. degree with an Education area of interest is where you should begin. After completing your A.A. degree, you can enter a Bachelor of Education program. FGC has a Bachelor of Elementary Education program for A.A. graduates interested in teaching Kindergarten – 6th grade.
This program leads to Florida Teacher Certification and requires all teacher candidates to pass the Florida Teacher Certification Exams. Suppose you have already completed a Bachelor’s Degree in an area outside of education but wish to become a certified teacher. In that case, the Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) is for you. You can obtain a professional teacher certificate and begin your career in teaching through the EPI alternative certification pathway in three semesters.
FGC offers a selection of education-related Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree paths to suit your needs. Here is more information on A.A. pathways.
