FGC Board of Trustees

Florida Gateway College is committed to providing the highest quality of education and training to the citizens of its unique, rural district area. The College’s district encompasses 2,683 square miles in five North Central Florida counties: Baker, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, and Union.

The Florida Gateway College Board of Trustees is composed of nine members appointed by the Governor per State Board of Education Administrative Rules for Community Colleges; 6A-14.024. Board members continue to serve until reappointed or new appointment is made. The members are representatives from each of the five counties in the FGC service area: two each from Baker and Gilchrist counties, three from Columbia county, one each from Dixie and Union counties.

The Board of Trustees conducts open meetings in accordance with stipulations of Florida’s “Government in the Sunshine” law. The Board of Trustees is granted authority as a body and no individual board member can take official action without the consent of the entire board.

Board meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month starting at 5 p.m. (unless otherwise specified with a workshop), with the exception of July and December. Meetings are held alternately within Florida Gateway College’s five district area.
