Program Overview
Correctional Basic Recruit Program, (BCRA-CER) 14 credits, 420 clock hours

This 420-hour program is designed to prepare students who will have the responsibility of overseeing individuals who are awaiting trial, or who have been convicted of a crime and sentenced to serve time in jail, correctional institution, or prison. Significant time is spent preparing students to take the State of Florida FDLE Certification Examination. This is a 16-week full-time program.

Students who complete this program before successfully passing the State Officer Certification Examination are eligible for certification as a corrections officer throughout the state of Florida.
STARTING SALARIES
Salaries on average range from $45,000 to $55,000.
- The full-time program can be completed in approximately 4 months.
- This is a limited access program.
- The program starts in Spring and Fall semesters.
- The vast majority of instructors are full-time employees in their chosen profession. This ensures that the material is being presented in a relevant and realistic manner.
- The law enforcement and corrections programs have received a Type A certification from the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. This is the highest type of certification available for criminal justice training schools in the state of Florida.
