Horticulturists apply their knowledge, skills, and technologies to grow intensively produced plants for human food, non-food uses, and personal or social needs. Their work involves plant propagation and cultivation, intending to improve plant growth, yields, quality, nutritional value, and resistance to insects, diseases, and environmental stresses. They work as gardeners, growers, therapists, designers, and technical advisors in horticulture's food and non-food sectors. The advanced horticulture certificate instructs you in plant physiology and growth, plant nutrition and fertilization, plant classification, integrated pest control, pruning and shaping plants, landscape trees and shrubs, golf course turf maintenance, and equipment maintenance.
