Horticulture, C.C.C. (HORT-CER) 18 credits

Horticulturists apply their knowledge, skills, and technologies to intensively grow plants for human food, non-food uses, and personal or social needs. Their work includes plant propagation and cultivation, with the goal of improving plant growth, yields, quality, nutritional value, and resistance to insects, diseases, and environmental stresses. The horticulture certificate program teaches the cultivation of edible plants and non-food crops, such as turf, ornamental plants, and trees. It also covers plant conservation, landscape design and restoration, golf course maintenance, residential lawn care, and arboriculture.
