LAKE CITY, Fla. – Florida Gateway College Athletics is excited to announce that Jesus “Zeus” Rivera will lead the Timberwolves of FGC Women’s Softball as Head Coach beginning this Fall.

Rivera brings more than 13 years of experience leading teams ranging from youth to collegiate level, including serving as Assistant Softball Coach at FGC since August of 2024.

From 2021 to 2023, Rivera helped lead Union County High School’s softball team as assistant coach, focusing on player development and fundraising. His experience includes coaching multiple community softball and baseball teams and serving as Director of Gainesville Fastpitch for more than five years, coaching youth teams and supervising program activities.

In addition to his coaching experience, Rivera is a business owner and community leader and served more than 12 years as a police officer and detective with the Gainesville Police Department.

“I want to say ‘thank you’ to Dr. Barrett, Vice President Tony Cardenas, and Athletic Director Chris Hackett for this incredible opportunity,” Rivera said. “I’m very excited to be a part of this exciting group of girls we have coming in, along with my returners. I’m definitely looking forward to this upcoming season and can’t wait to get on the field with the girls, but, most importantly, to get them ready and focused to compete in the DII Region 8 Conference.”

FGC Athletics thanks Coach Jimmy Williams for guiding Timberwolf Softball in its return to FGC and looks forward to continuing the college’s legacy in the sport under the leadership of Coach Rivera. Updates, schedules, rosters, and more are coming soon to the FGC Athletics website, www.fgcwolves.com.
