LAKE CITY, Fla. –  Florida Gateway College invites the community to join us as we commemorate the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Thursday, September 11, 2025, marks the 24th anniversary of those events, and the FGC community will gather to remember the lives lost, recognize the bravery of the first responders, and celebrate the unity found in the aftermath.

                Never Forget — 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The ceremony will last approximately 30 minutes and will include live musical performances by FGC faculty and students, including the national anthem and “God Bless America.” The guest speaker will be Tracey Higdon, FGC Interim Dean of Workforce Education and longtime firefighter, who will reflect on the role that firefighters, paramedics, police officers, EMTs, and other first responders played that day.

FGC President Dr. Lawrence Barrett will speak on the extraordinary unity that arose across the country and around the world in the days, weeks, and months that followed the attacks and on how important it is that we never forget.

In attendance at the ceremony will be the students of FGC Public Safety Programs at the Olustee Campus. These FGC students are currently training to be the first responders of tomorrow.

The entire community is invited to join us for this special tribute. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the ceremony.
