LAKE CITY, Fla. –

Florida Gateway College has already awarded $69,120 to students who were in technology programs during the Spring of 2020 and had their semesters extended by one month due to COVID-19. These grants will be used to help cover costs of books, supplies, cost for childcare, or other living expenses. The money is part of a federal program initiated for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 216 students received a grant in the amount of $320.00 to help with related expenses.

A second round of CARES ACT funding will be available for students currently enrolled in the Summer 2020 semester. There will be a total of $150,000 dollars of emergency funding available to qualified students. Students must show proof of the hardship to be eligible. Students who need assistance must:

  1. Be registered for courses at FGC Summer 2020.
  1. Complete the COVID-19 Emergency Grant Application.
  2. Email the grant application along with verifiable supporting documentation of the negative financial impact of COVID-19 (example documentation: notification of reduction of work hours, layoff or furlough) to cares.act@fgc.edu.

The college Emergency Aid Committee will review the COVID-19 applications and evaluate all documentation. The student will be notified of the status of their application through their wolves email address. The emergency grant application is available on the college’s website.
