August 9, 2022 Florida Gateway College to Hold New Summer Commencement Ceremony Share Share this post Twitter Facebook eMail Copy URL Copy LAKE CITY, Fla. – On Tuesday, August 9, Florida Gateway College will hold the college’s first-ever Summer Commencement Ceremony for students graduating in Summer 2022. More than 80 graduates will participate in the evening event, along with family, friends, and the faculty and staff of Florida Gateway College. “We at the college are excited to be honoring our Summer graduates,” said FGC President Dr. Lawrence Barrett. “All of their hard work and dedication have led to this point, and we hope this ceremony will be a day they and their families will remember forever.” In past years, FGC students who completed their programs in the Summer term were offered the opportunity to participate in the Spring ceremonies prior to their final term or in the Fall ceremony held the following December. This often made it difficult for Summer graduates to attend, with many being unable to return for Fall graduation after moving on to a career or further education. FGC knows how important it is for graduates to be able to gather with family and friends to celebrate their hard work and academic achievements. Adding a Summer Commencement ceremony makes it possible for even more FGC students to take part in this key moment in their college careers.
