June 15, 2020 Florida Gateway College announces 2020 Cross Country roster Share Share this post Twitter Facebook eMail Copy URL Copy FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LAKE CITY, Fla. – Florida Gateway College Athletics has announced the roster for the 2020 Women’s Cross Country Team. 1st year: Audrey Echols – Baker High School Amber Hollingsworth – Penn Foster High School Merlin Leal – Suwannee High School Savana Thomas – Bell High School 2nd year: Sydney Griffin – Columbia High School Sarah Griffin – Columbia High School Coach April Morse, who is entering her third year leading FGC Women’s Cross Country, continues to recruit and hopes to further grow the team before practice begins on August 1. “My goal for the team is to be competitive in NJCAA, Region 8,” said Morse. She aims for her runners to have a 5K time in the 22-minute range. “That would put us towards the front of the pack.” Last season, FGC finished sixth place out of 10 teams in the region with two athletes going on to compete at the NJCAA Half Marathon Championships in El Paso, TX. The team’s first competition of the season will be the Border Clash hosted by Valdosta State University on September 4.
